Bingo Cafe Prom
From LoveToKnow Teens
Bingo cafe prom ideas will turn your average prom into a game-filled night full of high stakes fun that's filled with excitement.
Prom Plans
In the past, proms were celebrated in the traditional manner of dancing and food, with a band or DJ to boot. While this is still a fun way to spend this one special night each spring, new ideas have slowly made their way into the prom planning books. Some schools choose to hold karaoke contests, while others look for other unique ideas. Of course, planning your prom takes several months. While most of the prom ideas are student generated, you will need to get approval from the administration and of course help from the faculty and parents.
Some high schools turn over the prom plans to the juniors who try to make the night a special event for the seniors, although they generally participate as well. Some schools have huge budgets to work with, while others have to get creative with their cost-cutting ideas. Planning a prom that stands out certainly isn't easy, but a bingo cafe prom can give your prom a certain edge. Where do you begin?
Planning a Bingo Cafe Prom
To plan a bingo cafe prom, you'll need to create a casino look. There are numerous kits online that your can order with virtually everything you'll need to lend a high stakes theme on this special night. If you don't have the money to order an elaborate kit, however, or you simply don't find what you want online, you can transform an ordinary gym, cafeteria, or other room into a bingo cafe with a little help from students and other volunteers.
- Backdrops-Every prom needs a backdrop for prom pictures, and you can easily create one to go with your bingo theme. Create huge bingo boards on poster paper, and attach them to an arch that prom goers stand under for their photo op.
- Decorations-Decorations can include place cards made out of bingo cards, oversized bingo markers scattered down the center of tables, and white paper tablecloths that have bingo board designs drawn on them.
- Confetti and balloons-Scatter confetti in red, white, and black along the tables and the floors. Blow up balloons in the same colors, and tie them to the backs of chairs or attach them to large bingo balls to display as centerpieces.
- Bingo boards-Create placemats by gluing bingo boards to plain placemats, and spraying sealant on each one to preserve them.
- Cups-Hand paint bingo designs onto plastic goblets to set at each placemat.
- Favors-Favors can include strings of beads in red, black, and white. Drape these around the stem of each goblet for prom goers to take with them at the end of the night.
Playing the Games
- Section off the room for gaming stations, but leave plenty of room for those who love to dance to the band or the DJ.
- Ask for adult volunteers or students who aren't planning on going to the prom to man each of the gaming tables.
- Several weeks before the prom, visit local merchants to ask for donations of merchandise to be used as bingo prizes. These might include gift certificates for movies, video games, ice cream, etc. You could also ask for gifts like lotions, perfumes, jewelry, other personal care items, picture frames, lanyards, key chains, gift baskets, sunglasses, travel mugs, personal coolers, etc. Be sure you have enough gifts for each game.
- Have at least one adult to monitor every table to ensure that players don't cheat and to be certain that everyone who wants to participate gets to do so.
Finally, be as organized as possible by designating a specific time for the games to begin. Don't forget to decide how many people will be playing at each table and purchase enough bingo games to accommodate everyone who plays. Above all, have fun!
