Homework Helper
From LoveToKnow Teens
Every student needs a homework helper at some point in their life to pass a class or finish an assignment.
Finding a Homework Helper
There are different avenues available to help you with your homework. The most effective tutor will depend on your personality and learning style. Some students are able to learn by posting a question on a message board, while others need someone right there in person to show them how it is done. Keep your learning styles in mind when searching for a homework helper.
Though hiring a tutor costs money, free homework help is available to you. Tutors help you with everything from math to writing to overcoming test anxiety. Remember, they will not do your work for you but instead help you to understand and finish it.
Tutors
If you are a visual learner and need one-on-one help, hiring a tutor is the best homework helper. You meet with them once or twice a week at a set time and they tutor you in the subjects you choose.
Professional Tutors
Retired teachers, college students and professional educators often provide tutoring services in their home. Rates will vary depending on their background and location.
Learning Centers
If you are uncomfortable going to a tutor's home, learning centers like Sylvan are growing in popularity. They offer both one-on-one in person tutoring and online tutoring in all subjects.
Student Tutors
Student to student tutoring is a cost effective way to get help. A student homework helper meets with you during study hall or after school. If you are unsure of who is strong in a particular subject, ask your teacher for a recommendation.
Parents
Using your parent as a homework helper is one of your most cost-effective options. Parents love to show off their knowledge. If they are not strong in a subject or difficult to work with, try your grandparents, aunts and uncles, or even a trusted neighbor.
Public Libraries
With the popularity of the Internet, libraries are often forgotten. However, they are a great place to study and research topics. Librarians are often helpful in pointing you in the right direction.
Online Homework Help
The Internet is one of the most valuable resources you can use as a homework helper. You have instant access to encyclopedias, online tutorial guides, newspapers, archives, and even educational games. Use it to your advantage.
While researching online, keep in mind that the information is not always 100% accurate. Anyone can publish online. If you are unsure of the facts, check with the library or a professional educator.
Tutoring Websites
These websites are dedicated to helping you with your homework. Some even offer online tutoring in a special chat room, which uses a white board that you draw on. Brainfuse, Tutor.com, and Math Clinic offer instant tutoring on demand.
Other tutoring websites are more information based. Some include a message board where you ask questions.
If you are working on a research paper or need an answer to a quick question, try searching:
