Keep reading and find out some ideas for the teen guy in your life--whether it be a boyfriend or a friend!

How can you express your love on Valentines day?

Valentine Gifts For Teenage Guys

The first thing to think about when thinking of gifts for guys for any holiday is your relationship to them. If they are your boyfriend, there are completely different gifts that you can get for them versus just a friend. Also, it is important to figure out how important your relationship is if you are dating; there are completely different gifts that one would buy a guy they are in a long-term relationship with versus some that one has been dating for only a few short weeks.

Gifts For Male Friends

If you are trying to cover all of your bases and get some of your male friends some gifts, here are some ideas sure to please:

  • Valentine's Day card. They are short, inexpensive and simple.
  • A piece of candy. No man can turn down candy.
  • A piece of chocolate. Chocolate is a great Valentine's Day gift for anyone you can't figure out what to get!

These gifts will go over well with your female friends too!

Gifts For A Short Term Relationship

When you haven't been dating a guy for too long, Valentine's Day can be hard. You don't want to get them something too romantic and perhaps scare them off. At the same time, you don't want to get them anything too small that doesn't honor your relationship. It's also easy for teenage girls to read into what the gift says and mull over what message the gift is sending. Here are some quick ideas for you to consider:

  • A CD, video game or DVD he has been looking to buy. It says that you care but isn't too lovey-dovey.
  • Treat him to lunch, coffee or something similar. This gift says that you care but that you know you're not serious enough for something bigger. Plus, it saves him some money!
  • Bake him cookies. It says that you care and gives him something yummy!
  • Tickets to a movie. It's another way you two can spend time together without worrying about him reading too much into your gift.
  • If your guy is especially romantic, a single red rose says "Will you be my Valentine" without saying "Will you marry me."
  • A handmade card.

Gifts For A Long Term Relationship

If you have been dating a guy for awhile or think that the relationship is rather serious, Valentine's Day can be one of the hardest things to shop for. It's not your guys birthday or Christmas, so you don't want to get anything too big. At the same time, it's a holiday geared towards being romantic and it's sometimes hard to think of original ideas. Here are some ideas that will either solve your shopping woes or give you a great new idea:

  • A mix tape. A classic show of love, you can make a tape (or CD!) with either all of his favorite songs or all of the songs that mean something to your relationship.
  • Write him a poem or a song.
  • Frame a picture of the two of you inside a nice frame. Bonus points if you make the frame or otherwise decorate it.
  • Make him a homemade dinner and celebrate Valentine's Day in style.
  • Personalized candy. You can get candy hearts or chocolates with a message for him, such as your two names in a heart.
  • A handmade gift. A popular idea in recent years has been a jar filled with slips of paper with reasons why one partner loves the other. You can even knit or crochet him a scarf (in red, of course!)
  • A romantic movie.
  • A coupon booklet (handmade or purchased) with coupons for love related things such as a coupon good for one kiss or hug.

Final Thoughts

Valentine's Day can be a hard holiday to shop for gifts for guys, but what's most important is that you stay true to the relationship you have with your partner or friend and not to the holiday hype. If you think going to a football game is a great gift idea for him, then go for it! Don't let the commercials on TV or the movies tell you what to do in your relationship!
