Kit,

I would recommend you and your parents talk to the coach and to the principal. That will give you an opportunity to find out what you can do to make the team.

In addition, you may want to look to see if there is a club sport team in the area -- in case it doesn't work out at your school.

Good luck!

I tried out for the high school basket ball team 9th and this year 10th. I did not make the team again! I am confused because I went to every practice of open gym for a month. Try-outs were only a week. The JV coach was only their that week and picked 3 kids that never showed up but 4 practices and so we know the coach knows their parents really good. Its a small town and all I want to do is play basketball. I was good enough to make the team since all summer I played with all my friends who made the team. Is this politics in school? Now I have to wait till next year. I'm a great player, who knows the game and definatly knows how to play over those other 3 kids. What should I do?

Hi Wesley, Try out at your local high school or if you don't have football at your school, another school in your district that does. Your phys ed teacher should be able to help you with this.

Hi Yazmin, Unless you go to a small school, you'll probably have to try out for team sports. Find out when the tryouts are for your favorite sport and then sign up- it is as simple as that. Make sure to practice a lot before the tryouts so you'll be ready to outshine the competition.

How do you get in?
