Hi Ali,
There are many places you can look for a job. You can look in the newspaper's classifieds section, you can search on online job boards such as Monster.com or drive around you town and submit applications. Good luck to you...

-- Contributed by: ebonyHi Ashley, I don't know why you're not getting any calls. Hopefully you filled out the applications in blue or black ink, wrote in complete sentences (not in text message lingo) and actually have a schedule that will work for your potential employers.
The main reason people don't like to employ teenagers is that they are a risk. By that I mean that many teens start a job and then quit rather quickly. It costs money to train employees, and once an employer gets burned they are unlikely to keep hiring high school students. Hang in there and keep applying for jobs you're interested in. Make sure you apply for jobs as soon as you hear about them - many employers fill the positions quickly. Alternatively, start your own business. Check out List of Cool Jobs for entrepreneur ideas.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI'm 17 and I've been looking for a job for a few months now. I've put in many applications, but no one has called me back yet. I don't know what to do now.
-- Contributed by: AshleyI'm 15 this summer I have been working at a children's centre just down the road from me, I have really enjoyed it, but now I'm back at school.
(For the rest of you teens still at school... you can get a job somewhere it's easy once you start looking!)
-- Contributed by: staceyHi Andrea, You're 16 so you should be able to find something - try the movie theaters and restaurants first because they often hire teens for jobs. Read List of Cool Jobs for more ideas!

Finding a job that provides transportation can be trickier. Babysitting is the first one that comes to my mind, as often the parents are willing to pick you up and drop you off. Another idea is places that are close enough to walk. You could even offer to do odd jobs for your neighbors, like mow the lawn or walk their dogs.
Good luck!

-- Contributed by: seanHi Barbara, I hope you are checking out all of your local resources for jobs too! Don't forget to post flyers in highly visible bulletin boards around town if you are offering services such as shoveling snow, babysitting or tutoring.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberHi Melissa, Good luck in your job search. Don't forget to check your local newspapers and bulletin boards at your post office, library and other places where people gather. Your state employment office should be able to help you as well (look in the blue government pages at the front of your phone book).

Babysitting is one of the best ways to get extra cash, and you can decide whether to take a job or not- something you really can't do when you work retail jobs. Before you take that first babysitting job, consider taking some certification courses on babysitting and infant CPR. Your local YWCA or YMCA usually offers courses in these areas. Also, if there is 4-H or Girl Scouts in your area, they also offer classes in babysitting. Parents really like to hire babysitters that have certification, especially CPR. Good luck and have fun!

-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberIm Kati and im looking for a job. Im looking forward to babysitting little kids maybe around 4-5 yrs old. i really need some money. also i love kids.
-- Contributed by: KatiHi Justina, If you are under 16, it will be difficult to find any "real" paying jobs, due to federal child labor laws. Basically, the only jobs for young teens are the ones that you can create. Consider walking dogs, babysitting, mowing lawns/cleaning up leaves, house cleaning, tutoring or anything else that there is a need for in your town. Once you have decided on a service you want to offer, print up nice fliers on the computer, include your name and phone number, print them out and post them wherever people tend to gather such as your grocery store, post office, bank, community center or library (ask the manager before putting up any posters though!)
