Hi Brianna and Little,
Unfortunately, this is not a job board and you may not receive the results you are looking for by posting an ad here. Try finding local website such as Craigslist to post a babysitting ad. Also, it's helpful to get the word out about your services to neighbors. Good luck.

-- Contributed by: littleHi Jessica and Shanequah, You both need to look for jobs locally- this article and comments section is not a job posting board. Read the help wanted sections of your local newspaper. Alternatively, read List of Cool Jobs for ideas on things you can do to earn money at any age.

Thirteen is a tough age to find work, as most companies don't hire anyone that young. Have you looked into services you could provide in your community for some extra cash -- like babysitting, dog walking, pet care, mowing lawns? Often those are the best quick ways for an energetic teen to make some money.

-- Contributed by: TarahHi Victoria, Check out our new articles on modeling:
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI really want to be a model.
-- Contributed by: Victoria DavisHi Maikue, Being a model is a lot of hard work, but it has a lot of rewards for those that stick it out. Start by getting your picture taken by a professional photographer, a head shot, a full front body shot and a side body shot. Wear very little makeup for these photos, if any at all. You could even have these taken at WalMart very inexpensively. Then make copies of these pictures (you could also do this at WalMart or anywhere else where photos can be copied). Look up modeling agents in your phone book and send them a cover letter telling them a little bit about yourself and copies of each of your photos. You could also call the modeling agencies to find out if they have open calls where you can go and present your photos in person (always a great idea). If they like your look, they'll represent you. Be aware that modeling can take up a lot of your free time; you'll work after school and weekends. Your agent will expect you to take jobs that they find for you; any of your extracurricular activities will have to take a back seat to your modeling jobs.
We'll have more articles on modeling this month. Check out our home page frequently to see when they are posted!
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberHi Gini, Have you tried looking in the help wanted section of your local newspaper? That is one of the best places to start. If you are too young to work for a business, read our article, List of Cool Jobs for ideas of businesses that you can start.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI really want to take a step closer to my dream of being a model. I never have done anything big to get noticed, but I know that modeling and being in front of the camera is what I want to do.

-- Contributed by: shayla kimbleHi Kat,
The same thing applies to you as it does to Lisa (see my recent comment). I think it is great that so many teens under 16 want to work, but even if an employer wanted to hire you, it would be against child labor laws. The only way you can get a job is to create your own niche in your community. Create a job that there is a need for- anything from shoveling snow to baby sitting- someone always needs these types of services.
Advertise that you would like to work and check with other adults. Often times adults have odds-n-ends jobs that they need done but just don't know anyone who would like to do them. Check with your parents or grandparents- perhaps they know someone "safe" you can work for to earn extra bucks! Good Luck!
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberHi Lisa,
It will be difficult for you to find a traditional job in your town if you are under 16, due to child labor laws. Therefore, if you want to work you'll have to be entrepreneurial and create your own job. Babysitting, dog walking/dog sitting, lawn mowing, house cleaning and horse exercising, for examples, are all things that young teens have done to generate income.
Once you come up with a possible job that you think there is a need for, post fliers around town in the post office, small businesses, even the entry way to WalMart usually has a bulletin board, or your public library- all places that the public tends to congregate. Don't forget to include your name and phone number so prospective clients can get a hold of you. Good Luck!
