Hi Evelyn, Making your own dress from a pattern you've made is advanced sewing. I wouldn't attempt this if you have little experience in sewing. If you do have the experience and you've tailored your own clothing, then I would ask someone locally who does have this experience. Contact your local JoAnn Fabrics store and see what kind of sewing classes they have available- or see if you can speak with some of the advanced sewing teachers for these tips. This is best taught in person- not online.

Hi Kaycie, Shop for your prom dress patterns locally. Try JoAnn Fabrics- they are a nation-wide chain. This is probably the best way to see all of the available patterns- websites don't always have all of their patterns online.

Hy. I know my prom is still two years away, but i'm going to design my own pattern from an original drawing I've done. Any tips on pattern drawing?

Hi Martha, Start shopping for patterns at your local Han... Fabrics, JoAnn Fabrics or other fabric store. You may even shop from these two merchants online (just Google them)to get your patterns. After you pick your patterns, you'll need to buy the fabrics (the fabric information is on the pattern envelope); don't be afraid to ask someone in these stores for help choosing the right fabrics. With such advanced planning (2 years!) you should be able to sew carefully and make your dresses in time for your formal events. If you choose classic patterns for your dresses, you'll always be in style no matter what year the prom will be.

Hi Summer, Unless you have the skills to make your own pattern, you'll either have to buy another pattern that has some of the aspects you spoke of, or you can visit Prom Girl- Design Your Own Gown.

Hi Brittany, If you want to design your gown and have someone else make it, consider Prom Girl- Design Your Own Gown. I don't know of any businesses/websites that will make the pattern only.

Can I describe my dress and then someone make a pattern for it? I can't find a pattern any where for what I have designed for myself. My teacher says I need to have the exact pattern for my dress before I can make it for my class.

I'm not looking for a crazy prom dress, but I want to make my own.. and I want it like ive designed it.. low cut front and low in the back with a slit up the front. I can't find a pattern like that anywhere. I've looked all over the Internet! I know I can't find it exactly how I want it .. but I kinda need help!
