I am not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I can tell you that the teen years are not always fun. It is a turbulent time and growing up is often painful. The social and emotional struggles teens face are difficult, however they do prepare you for adulthood. So, I agree that the teen years are not always the fun years. But, I also think teens can and do have fun!

Hey Prom 2011, There are two things to consider here - your body will probably change over the next 3 years, so a dress you choose today may not fit then. Second - trends are constantly changing. While there are classic styles, prom dresses are usually a class of their own- and styles are constantly changing. I'd wait until the year of the prom to make a decision.

Finding the right dress for a special occasion can be a daunting task. Luckily, you already know what you want- a long flowing blue gown. The question is, where do you find such a dress? The following sites may help you find the dress you envision as the ideal gown:

  • eBay- lots of dresses, new and gently used at reasonable prices- most merchants ship internationally which is a plus
  • Prom Girl- lots of beautiful gowns in just about any size or length, many in various shades of blue
  • Only Gowns- gowns for every occasion in every color and many sizes

Shopping online is great, especially if you live in a rural area far away from the malls. If you are going to shop online, visit sites that are secure. Your browser should give you an indication whether a site is secure or not- most sites have a little padlock icon that shows up either in the lower left hand of the browser or in the address bar itself. Most shopping sites that offer a secure checkout will also let you know they use VeriSign or another type of secure encryption software, that they use to protect their shoppers.

If you want to know whether you are getting a good deal or not, try shopping on the comparison shopping sites, like BizRate. Amazon.com is also another site that has many competing merchants now using their services. You can also type comparison shopping in your browser to find other websites that offer comparison shopping.
