Hi Destiny, Everyone approaches stressful situations differently, so no one way is guaranteed to work for everyone. I guess the problem lies in what are you worried about. If you already have good grades, it is unlikely that you will start failing now, especially if you have studied as hard as you say. What are you really worrying about? Pleasing your parents, getting into a good college, impressing someone else? You can only do your best, and that is the most anyone can ask for (including parents!) I think you are putting too much stress on yourself. The night before your next exam (or two), don't spend more than an hour on each cram session and get a good night's rest. If you already study as much as you say you do, you'll be fine.

-- Contributed by: destinyHi Erlis, I know it is hard when you want to win, especially when you compete against friends. When I was in high school I participated in debates and speaking contests. Even though I competed against friends, we all had fun and congratulated each other, no matter who won. It was fun to see who would place 1st or 2nd at events. If I didn't win first place, I just tried harder the next time. Perhaps your friend(s) would enjoy the competition too, no matter who wins. You'll never know unless you give it a try.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberA GPA stands for your grade point average. Schools use it to determine your overall success in all your classes. It is one number taken over a period of time -- like one year in school for example. Each letter grade is assigned a number, A is a 4, B is a 3 and so on. Then the average of all your grades is computed to determine a GPA.

-- Contributed by: erlisHi Erlis, sounds like you are putting too much stress on yourself. I know it is difficult to say no to people, but if you waffle now, you'll be doing it the rest of your life. Politely tell your teacher that you don't want to be in the competition and don't let them talk you into it. (Keep the "No means No" mantra in your head!). You could also make up an excuse (other plans with family that particular day) so you don't hurt your teacher's feelings. You shouldn't feel pressured to do something you don't enjoy; you'll only end up feeling used.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte Gerberteachers in my school are very good but they stress me so much , for example my math teacher wants me to go in a math competition but i don't want to.i am a very good student and i have tried several times competions, without getting prepared and I havetaken good places. How ever this stresses me so much and i dont want to go anymore, but im afraid that my teacher will be mad at me.what can I do?Please help me.
-- Contributed by: erlisHi Destiny,
I used to have terrible test anxiety in school. The things that worked best for me was to really study so I was super sure of myself come test day. It also pays to get enough sleep. Don't study so much that you don't sleep the night before an exam- you'll only feel tired and more anxious than ever. If you get an upset stomach before exams, avoid a big breakfast or greasy lunch. Pack some snacks that you can nibble after the exam instead.
If for some reason you do get a "bad" mark, think about what the worst thing that could happen. Your GPA goes down slightly? That can be rectified with extra credit assignments. Most teachers will gladly give extra credit assignments to good students who stumble on exams.
Good luck!
