i would agree, i am happy in my own body, i dont care if im not fit, but im a teen, and other teens think they can have the body of a model, so they try hard just to do that, such on go on diets, disorders, and more, but i'm not like that. i'm HAPPY to be in my own body, if i wasnt it would be different, thanks for the help.

I couldn't agree more that media truely effects every teenager in some way or another. They look up to these high standards set by the media. & of course its sad to see eating disorders and death being the ending of this pressure to be thin. I think we need to portray a better body imagine for those growing up in our world.

Parents and teachers do everything they can to try to teach children and teenagers that image isnt everything, that popularity isnt everything, and that inner beauty is all that matters. The media puts way too much stress on body image. And because of this stress, we have come to believe that the better looking a person is, the more likeable the person is. Looks have a great deal to do with popularity status. In the movie Charlie Bartlett, Charlies mother tells him, Theres more to high school than being well-liked. When he asks, Like what specifically? his mother can only reply, Nothing comes to mind. Its sad to me that this is the way our society has become. What ever happened to enjoying a persons company because of who they are, not enjoying a persons company because theyre easy to look at? Why do people choose to continue listening to this nonsense?

You know Eric, I couldn't Disagree with you more. The picture is gross and I think it's stupid that you think all guys want skinny girls. The media can go screw themselves because girls (and guys) that look like the girl in the picture above are 'SICK'. Nothing about that type of body is attractive. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I think curves on women are absolutely sexy.

Of course some one out there will be attracted to the girl in the picture, but if i was a guy i would turn the other way. Her bones protruding is absolutely disgusting. It makes you want to scream eat something! I think people fail to realize its not how 'fat' or how 'skinny' you are, its important how HEALTHY you are. I think every guy should appreciate curves, thats what's SEXY.

Hi Erik, Obviously, guys always want a skinny hot girl. Unfortunately, the average dress size of real women is 16, not a 0. The point is, women shouldn't have to fit some stereotype of a pre-pubescent girl in order to make someone else happy. They should be happy in their own skin. The same is true for men - they shouldn't have to have six-pack abs in order to be loved.

Whatever... Skinny is hot. That's why it is popular in the media. It's what guys want. Anyone trying to tell you anything else is likely a fat woman too lazy to diet or exercise.

Hi Marissa, That is exactly the point of the picture we used for this article.

If you're going to be skinny as that girl is in that picture then you might aswell be dead...like that is disgusting to think that you need to look dead to be beautiful...there is nothing beautiful about that!
