Margaret and Sarah,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
-- Contributed by: Marcelina HardyTo Sarah (above), you're tricking yourself. Your body was made to experience love and lust. Lust is a huge part of what brings people together to experience love. Repressing parts of your true self will only manifest as a problems for you and those you love later.
-- Contributed by: Margaret"Let your body experience the rush of lust, but learn to tame it before you begin to explore this newfound sexual energy." WHAT?!?! i totally get what Debbie is trying to say about 'taming' your feelings but that last sentence is totally off! I mean, our bodies were created to experience love not lust. and if we are walking in the Spirit daily then we don't even have to worry about our bodies having lustful desires.
-- Contributed by: sarahJoy, Best of luck with your new website!
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberCharlotte, I'm not religious at all. I'm a born-again Christian who is simply concerned about my generation. I would like to thank you because you have inspired me to start my own website and try to help teens with their emotions from a physical, emotional, but most importantly Biblical point of view on this topic. God Bless you Charlotte!
-- Contributed by: joyHi Joy, How you feel about lust and love and religion are a personal thing. Whether you are a teen or not, perhaps discussing this with your parents, priest, reverend or minister would be better than posting an online discussion or debating semantics. If you're confused, that would be a better place to start and clear up any religious confusion you have.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberDebbie doesn't say that lust is something you should give into; in fact, she states just the opposite in the last two paragraphs of the article. Lust is a normal feeling though- without it there wouldn't be procreation. People shouldn't be made to feel that they are dirty for having these feelings (have you ever read Song of Solomon?). Just because you feel physical attraction for someone doesn't mean you have to go to bed with them either.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI once heard a woman say, "...believe it or not we are humans not animals, WE actually have self control..." I have hormones just like every other teenager..but because of my convictions i also have self control over the decisions i make and thoughts i think. Even though i agree with Debbie on a few of her points, I have to say i disagree on her last sentence the most. Debbie is almost making it sound as if 'lust' is just a natural, normal thing that is just fine as long as we control it. I'm sorry to tell you Debbie but any teen that reads that is being greatly deceived by you. The Bible clearly says 'lust' is a sin : Colossians 3:5- "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." Lust is not ok. God intended for us to love not lust and if someone has a problem with 'lust', which is simply looking on someone in a sexual way, they are in sin. Thankfully Gods love cleanses us from all sin, but as a teenager I'm hurt that you would try to tell me its ok to lust after someone, and that its natural. Let me tell you, lust is the beginning of rape, divorce, unwanted pregnancies, and horrible diseases (that have sky-rocketed in tees in the past year). THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PHYSICAL ATTRACTION, but if not controlled it turns into lust, which is a sin. God created physical attraction and sex and wants us to wait. Hebrews 13:4- "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." God created sex for us to enjoy and i can't hardly wait til my wedding night, but i AM going to wait simply because i want to experience the full blessing, not something half done.
I find it really hard to find a pretty girl around my age that is as frisky as I can be and that is into similar things and that will treat me right.
